Situated approximately 93 km southeast of Cape Town, Botrivier takes its name from the Bot River, which flows along the town's western edge. Ideally located just 20 km from Grabouw, Caledon, and Kleinmond, this charming destination strikes the perfect balance—close enough to enjoy nearby attractions, yet far enough to savor the peace and quiet of the countryside. Encircled by an abundance of activities, scenic routes, and dining options, Botrivier lies at the base of the Houw Hoek Mountains, a gateway to Hermanus.

Reaching Ou Meul Farm is a short, scenic drive on a well-maintained dirt road, easily accessible by standard vehicles.

The Cottage

This beautifully modern three-bedroom, two-bathroom unit is perfect for families or small groups. With panoramic views of the farm and grazing sheep, the cottage is shaded by a majestic oak tree—ideal for unwinding on the lush lawn. Its modern interiors are complemented by features like an indoor braai and bar area, as well as an outdoor braai and Kolkol hot tub, creating a perfect retreat for relaxation and leisure.

The Farmhouse

An additional private cottage, attached to the main house, offers accommodation for two, complete with its own kitchen, bathroom, and living space.

The farmhouse’s standout feature is its charming courtyard, equipped with a built-in braai, boma, and pizza oven. Outside, the expansive "stoep" provides breathtaking views, perfect for sundowners while lounging by the pool or Kolkol hot tub.

Nearby, guests can enjoy bass fishing in the dam or marvel at the springbok, deer, ostriches, and sheep grazing peacefully on the farm.

For gatherings, the enclosed lawn and garden area, coupled with a massive braai setup, create a picturesque setting.

The traditional farmhouse kitchen combines nostalgic charm with contemporary convenience. Featuring SMEG appliances in a striking red theme, a spacious double-door fridge, and ample counter space, it’s a dream for preparing meals, especially for larger groups.

The cozy living room, dining area, indoor braai, and fireplace make the farmhouse equally inviting during the colder months.

Memorable Moments on the Farm

Our stay exceeded expectations. The open spaces delighted the kids, who especially enjoyed fishing in the dam. A standout experience was our pizza night, made unforgettable by the outdoor pizza oven—a first for us on a getaway.

The sunsets viewed from the "stoep" were mesmerizing, casting a golden glow over the Houwhoek Mountains and the Van der Stel Pass. For adventurers, this scenic route is a must-explore.
